Implant

Dental implants are titanium screws placed into the jawbone to treat missing teeth. A dental prosthesis is attached to these screws. One advantage of implant treatment over other options is that it does not harm neighboring teeth. Implants function like natural tooth roots, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile naturally. The procedure is typically performed under mild sedation. Prior to the procedure, a detailed examination and X-rays are required to evaluate the jawbone and remaining teeth. There are two options for placing dental implants. In a single-stage procedure, a temporary abutment (bridge head) is attached after implant placement. In a two-stage procedure, the implant is covered with gum tissue, and healing is awaited before attaching the abutment. In both cases, a temporary bridge is placed, and a healing period of three months for the lower jaw and six months for the upper jaw is observed. In rare cases, new teeth can be immediately attached to dental implants.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of implant application?

Implants seamlessly replace natural teeth and do not harm healthy teeth during the process of restoring missing teeth. Implants are long-lasting and effectively address the consequences of tooth loss in a healthy manner.

Will the tooth placed on the implant look like a natural tooth?

The implant is positioned beneath the bone and gum tissue, so there is no mismatch with the tooth placed on it. Especially with the recent advancements in zirconium superstructures, a perfect fit is achieved even in anterior aesthetics.

Can there be discomfort during or after the operation?

The operation can be performed without any pain or discomfort under local anesthesia. General anesthesia can also be applied when necessary. After the operation, there may be slight pain or swelling, which can be easily alleviated with pain relievers and necessary precautions, similar to what one might experience after any tooth extraction.
